The " Twelve Days of Christmas" series began in the summer of 2006 when Joyce Byers designed the " Partridge in a Pear Tree Santa" as a tribute to the renowned Christmas carol first written as a " catechism song" to help young Catholics learn the beliefs of their faith. The song's gifts are hidden meanings to the teachings of the faith while the " true love" referred to in the song is symbolic of God. 

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: seven swans a-swimming…. The Seven Swans-A-Swimming are thought to represent the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The " true love" in the song refers to God Himself. And the " me" receiving the gifts is every Christian
