The female end has two rectangular openings on its face that accept standard male blades, with contacts tucked inside the housing to grip them. Pair it with the matching male plug and you have a clean, sturdy connection on your 18 AWG SPT-1 or SPT-2 cord, with a cover to keep the joint protected. The dark green body blends into garland and greenery, so the connection hides as well as the cord does.

Plugs and receptacles were a bit of a puzzle in the early days of electric power. Early connectors were often exposed, and a loose contact could spark or overheat, so the move to enclosed housings with covers was a big step forward. A female end seems like the humbler half of the pair, but it does the quiet work of keeping the current flowing, and without a good one, the male plug is just a stick with two prongs.

Fit & Use — female connector for 18 AWG SPT-1 or SPT-2 two-conductor cord, mates with a standard male blade plug

Openings — two rectangular blade slots on the face

Contacts — internal metal contacts inside the housing

Housing — dark green molded body with a removable cover

Dimensions — not listed on the product images; measure before ordering if fit matters
