The Levingston Collection channels the best of 18th-century British ceramic design and innovation, inspired by the renowned collection of antiques and excavated shards at Colonial Williamsburg. Based on refined stonewares used for ornamental table dishes and utilitarian food storage vessels imported to the American colonies, decorative details trace English and American history: a rosette from a cup made when Jamestown and Plymouth were fledging New World Colonies, a leaf motif from a plate commemorating British victory over the Scots at the Battle of Culloden, and a border from a delft plate excavated at Wetherburn’s Tavern in Williamsburg, Virginia.
