1450 American Drive-in. The first drive-in restaurant in America was Kirby's Pig Stand in Dallas, Texas, established in 1921. The idea really took off and drive-ins had their heyday in the 1950s and 60s, to be superceded in later decades by drive-through restaurants. By artist Steve Crisp
