Candy Shoppe Christmas Card Set - Happy Holidays Candy Canes

Two candy canes cross paths on a mint-green background, dressed up with holly, berries, a pink poinsettia, and a "happy holidays" tag that looks like it was tied on by someone with excellent taste. It's sweet and cheerful without being too sugary, and the soft mint color makes the red and pink pop.

Candy canes have a sweet history of their own. A popular tale credits a 17th-century German choirmaster with bending sugar sticks into hooks so children could keep quiet during long services, though historians aren't sure how much of that is legend. What is documented is that the poinsettia, the pink flower in this design's bouquet, came to the United States in the 1820s, when Joel Poinsett, the first U.S. minister to Mexico, sent cuttings home. Holiday traditions often arrive in pieces like that, one treat and one blossom at a time.

Inside, the verse reads "May memories of Christmas cheer warm your heart throughout the year," which makes this card a fine pick for anyone you'd like to remember long after the tree comes down.
