Candy Shoppe Christmas Card Set - Jolly Santa Face

Here's the jolly old fellow himself, peeking out from his red hat with a rosy-cheeked grin and a beard so fluffy it could double as a snowbank. The bold red "Merry Christmas" script rides right across his whiskers, and snowflakes twinkle against a deep teal background. It's a classic Santa with a retro twist, and it has the kind of cheer that makes you want to wish everyone a very merry day.

Santa's red suit is older than many people think. Cartoonist Thomas Nast drew him in red robes and fur trim for Harper's Weekly in the 1860s and 1870s, and the look was polished further by Haddon Sundblom's illustrations for Coca-Cola starting in 1931. Those ads didn't invent the red suit, despite the popular myth, but they did help make the jolly, rosy-cheeked Santa on this card the one most people picture today.

Inside, the verse reads "Wishing you a very Merry Christmas," a simple, sincere greeting for friends, family, and anyone who deserves a little extra holiday cheer.
