Winking Wilbur is short and round, with one eye squeezed shut like he's in on a joke you haven't heard yet. Lanky Lester is the tall one, with one eyebrow raised in permanent disbelief. And Grumpy Gus wears the scowl of a pumpkin who knows exactly what happens to pumpkins in November.

These three are distant cousins of the jack-o'-lantern. According to Irish legend, Stingy Jack tricked the devil one too many times and was left to wander the night with only a coal in a carved turnip to light his way. When Irish immigrants came to America, they found pumpkins much easier to carve than turnips, and a tradition was born. These guys skip the knife altogether, and they'll never go soft on your porch.
