Jolly Santa Christmas Card

Ho, ho, hello! This 5 x 7 inch card brings Santa right to your mailbox, with a rosy-cheeked face framed by a fluffy white beard. Three raised icons perch on his hat, and gold foil traces the hat and each icon, so they catch the light. Open the card to a bright gold "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" surrounded by a tree, a gift, a candy cane, a peppermint, holly, snowflakes, and stars. The envelope is foil-lined, so the shine continues after the card is opened.

Santa's look owes a lot to a few famous hands. Saint Nicholas was a 4th-century bishop in Myra, in what is now Turkey, remembered for his generosity to children. In 1823, Clement Clarke Moore's poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" gave him his sleigh, reindeer, and chimney. Cartoonist Thomas Nast then drew him for Harper's Weekly in the 1860s and 1870s, shaping the jolly, bearded figure most of us still picture today.
