Plaid Pine Season's Greetings Card

Pull on your flannel and settle in with this 5 x 7 inch card. A plaid pattern in kraft, green, black, and soft gray-blue forms the backdrop, with gold glitter lines stitched through it like thread. A raised green pine, edged in kraft, stands tall beneath a gold acrylic gem star, and "Season's Greetings" runs across a raised green banner along the bottom. Inside, green and gold lettering wishes you warmth, joy, and peace, with two small pines tucked into the corner.

Plaid has deep roots in Scottish weaving, where tartan patterns were woven for centuries and later became associated with particular families and regions. Decorating evergreen trees at Christmas grew out of German tradition and gained wide popularity in England and America in the 19th century, after an 1848 illustration of the British royal family around a decorated tree circulated widely. A pine wrapped in plaid is a fitting marriage of those two traditions.
