Poinsettia Merry Christmas Banner Card

Wrap the season in red and green with this 5 x 7 inch card. A raised white banner curls across a deep green background, carrying "Merry Christmas" in red foil script, while raised red and crimson poinsettias tuck in around it with white-edged leaves. Snowflakes dust the green background. Inside, red script wishes you peace, joy, and happiness this holiday season, with a cluster of poinsettias in the corner, and the foil-lined envelope adds a bright red shine.

The red parts of a poinsettia are not petals at all. They are modified leaves called bracts, which surround the tiny yellow flowers at the center. A Mexican legend tells of a girl named Pepita who had no gift for the Christmas Eve service, so she gathered a bundle of roadside weeds. When she laid them at the manger, the plants bloomed into brilliant red flowers, which is why the poinsettia is sometimes called the flower of the Holy Night.
