Present Tree Christmas Card

Who says you have to unwrap a present to enjoy one? This 5 x 7 inch card stacks a cheerful tree of wrapped gifts, polka dots and stripes in red, green, gold and cream, and crowns it with a sparkling acrylic star. The presents are raised, so they nearly leap off the warm kraft-toned front, while gold foil picks out the "Merry Christmas" lettering and every bow. Open it up and a single red-wrapped present sits above the sentiment, and the full-color envelope carries the same festive spirit.

Greeting cards have been part of the season since 1843, when Sir Henry Cole, the British civil servant behind the first commercial Christmas card, had about a thousand printed in London. Kraft, the earthy brown paper behind this design, takes its name from the German word for "strength," which suits paper that has been wrapping parcels for well over a century. Put the two together and you get a card that looks like it came straight from under the tree.
