Religious Favorites Christmas Card Set - All Is Calm
Snow-dusted evergreen branches lean into the frame, their needles frosted white and warmed by a few glowing string lights. Soft blue winter light fills the background, and the words "All Is Calm, All Is Bright" catch the eye in silver foil lettering that shimmers as the card turns. It's a quiet, peaceful scene for a season that can feel anything but quiet.
The phrase comes from "Silent Night," the carol written in 1818 in Oberndorf, Austria, with lyrics by the priest Joseph Mohr and music by the schoolteacher Franz Xaver Gruber. The line "All is calm, all is bright" appears in John Freeman Young's English translation from 1859. The first commercial Christmas card, meanwhile, was produced in London in 1843 by Henry Cole, so sending holiday wishes on paper is nearly as old as the carol itself.
Inside, the verse reads "May the quiet of winter's beauty fill you with peace," followed by "Merry Christmas," a gentle wish for anyone who could use a little calm this season.
