Season's Favorites - Merry & Bright (Cherry Red & Twinkle Lights)

A cheerful cherry red card glows with a wavy border of multicolored string lights, each bulb edged in white, and "Merry & Bright" in gold foil script waits in the center. Open it to a clean white panel with a strand of lights running across the top and bottom, and "Christmas joy to you!" in red script between them. Each card comes with a bright green envelope with a white liner and a curl of lights in the corner.

The first electric Christmas tree lights shone in 1882, when Edward H. Johnson, an associate of Thomas Edison, wired a tree with 80 red, white, and blue bulbs. Electric light was still a novelty, and it took decades before a string of bulbs became a common sight in homes. The rainbow of bulbs on this card is a cheerful echo of those first patriotic colors, and every twinkle is a small nod to that glowing tradition.
