Season's Favorites - Warm Winter Wishes (Sage & Ornament Red)

Soft sage leaves spill across the front of this card, with three ornaments dangling from gold foil strings: a deep green teardrop, a round red bauble, and a red teardrop near the bottom. Red berries tuck among the greenery, and "warm Winter wishes" fills the lower left, with "Winter" in gold foil script. Open the card to a pale sage panel with a garland curling up the right edge and "happy holidays" in small, simple type. Each card comes with a sage envelope with a gold-edged liner.

Glass ornaments have a lovely origin. Glassblowers in Lauscha, a village in Germany's Thuringian Forest, began making hand-blown baubles in the mid-1800s, and families who could afford them hung them from evergreen boughs. By the 1880s, Frank Woolworth was importing them to America, and the glittering ornaments quickly became a holiday staple. The gold strings on this card are a nod to those little glass treasures swinging from green branches.
